Sea Dog Theater seeks to tell stories of alienation and reconciliation.

We create theater about and for people on the margin of society, exploring the realms of personal, interpersonal, communal, societal, and existential alienation, and investigating the conditions necessary for reconciliation to occur. Our method of reconciliation is not just in the art-making, but also in the convening of artists and audiences to dialogue with one another.

We are committed to:

o   Stimulating conversation between strangers: We believe in the theater’s power to catalyze public exploration of challenging subjects, promoting communal dialogue, and understanding.

o   Empowering Artists while making art accessible to all: We honor and support our talented collaborators by ensuring every artist involved in our productions is paid for their creativity and dedication. In turn, we also welcome audiences who can pay-what-they-wish for outstanding theater. By removing financial barriers and centering equitable pay for artists, we are better able to build a consistent and diverse community of individuals.

o   Fostering a sense of community: Our hospitality initiative after each event seeks to create a space where strangers can become friends and enjoy a bite to eat while dialoging over important questions. Our artists and audience all play an equally important part at Sea Dog Theater and we hope you will feel at home with us.

o   Upholding a culture of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access: We strive to uplift marginalized voices, seeking out artists and audiences whose identities have been historically diminished. We do this through authentic community partnerships with organizations like AA, St. Ann’s Church for the Deaf, Restoration Immigration Legal Aid. We value all voices, denounce harm against any individual based on identity, and seek to correct and learn from missteps when and where we cause harm. As we continue to build long-term relationships with artists and audiences, we remain committed and attentive to efforts of restoration and reconciliation.
